Within Craftable, the Markets feature allows you to indicate which concept a store belongs to the. If all of your locations are of the same concept, you will likely create just a single market (e.g. "Global" or "All") and allocate this single market to all stores. But if your stores are a mix of different concepts you can indicate this by creating concept-specific markets, and allocating these markets to your stores.
Markets come in to play in relation to building your recipes at the Director level. Each menu list has a market associated with it, so when you're adding items to the recipe, only items that are allocated to stores within the selected market will appear. Rather than ALL of your items, which may be overwhelming at times. And when recipes are synced to the stores from Director, the recipes that are sent to each store are based on which market is allocated to the Menu List of each recipe, and which market is allocated to each store.
For Example
If all of your stores are allocated to the Global market, but only your New York locations are allocated the "NYC" market, recipes on a menu list within the global market will go to all stores, whereas menu lists within the NYC market will only be synced to the stores that have been allocated the NYC market. Additionally, as you're building the recipe on the NYC menu list, only items that are available within our New York store will be available to select.
Step 1: Setup Markets at Director
Navigate to Stores & Markets > Markets > + Add Market.
Best Practices
We recommend creating a Global market, which is assigned to all of your stores. If you also have regional menus or different concept menus (with different recipes/items for the various regions/concepts), you should also make markets for each of these, like in the image below.
Step 2: Allocate Markets to Stores at Director
To allocate markets to stores (or check current allocations), go to Stores & Markets > Stores. On here you can see the tags of any allocated markets under the markets column. To allocate further use the check box at the left and click the Markets button, then choose which market to allocate the store to.
Permissions
There are 3 permissions related to Markets -
- Add Markets - This permission controls a user's ability to both create new markets on the market page, as well as update existing markets, so changing their name, ID, or tag color.
- Delete Markets - This gives a user the ability to delete a market by clicking the trash can icon on the markets page
- Update Store Markets - This controls whether or not a user can allocate a market to a store on the store page. (Step 2 in the above article.)
