Understanding CU Price
The CU Price (or Count Unit Price) is the dollar value of a single unit of inventory for a given item. The CU price for an item can be found at a glance by navigating to either Items & Vendors > Items or Inventory > Inventory
The CU Price is used throughout the system to understand the value of your inventory. Craftable is configured based on Last Purchased Price (rather than FIFO or LIFO), so all items are valued at the price you last paid for it, unless you choose to override this price. More information on updating the CU Price manually is included in the section below.
When starting an audit on the system to take your weekly or monthly inventory the system takes a snapshot of the items' CU Prices at the moment you start the audit. You cannot edit the CU Prices during the audit, but if you find any incorrect CU Prices you can edit them once you close the audit. See this article for further details.
Updating the CU Price
The CU price is initially determined by the purchase unit added to the item when the item is created. However, once an invoice with that item is approved, the CU price will be updated to match that of the invoice.
Commissary transfer orders can update the CU price as well, but normal transfers do not impact your CU Price. If you wish to manually set your CU price you can do this from the Inventory page if you have permission to do so (notice the CU price is listed in blue for the screenshot above, just click on the price to update it).
When approving an invoice that would update the CU price you will be notified if the change in price is greater than your promo threshold percentage (positive or negative). This is a setting that can be found in your account profile (name in the top right) by selecting Store Settings > Store Info. Any CU price change that is less than your promo threshold will not notify you and will change the CU price automatically. If you want to be informed of more changes when approving your invoices, you may want to reduce the promo threshold percentage to increase the amount of changes that are flagged.
In the screenshot below, you can see an item CU price change that was caught by the promo threshold. Notice you have the ability to keep the old CU price as well as accepting the new price. Keeping the old price will maintain the current CU price instead of updating to the pricing on the invoice. This may be useful for situations in which you received an item at a much lower price than normal (extra bottle for free, promotional consideration, etc.) to ensure that the valuation of your entire inventory for this item is not negatively affected.
