Craftable's Labor module is where scheduling, wages, employees, and so many more options can be controlled. To get started with Labor follow the initial setup process outlined in this article.
Start by clicking your name at the top right, and then select Store Settings from the dropdown options. Labor configuration consists of the following sections:
Departments
Departments are used to separate out areas of your business for scheduling purposes. When creating Schedules in Labor you will build and publish a schedule by Department. Most commonly users set their departments as "Front of House" and "Back of House", but Departments are able to be configured however you like. When creating a new Department you can indicate an optional Department ID and designate whether or not tips are accumulated by employees in this department.
Roles
Once you've created Departments, add Roles to these Departments by clicking the "Add Role" button at the far right. Roles are job titles for positions at a workplace that can be scheduled in that department (e.g. in your Front of House department you may have Server, Bartender, Host, etc...).
The dropdown menu next to Role includes a variety of hospitality-based Roles, but you can also enter your own by selecting "Add Custom Role".
Meal Periods
Meal Periods are set time frames for operational hours of the day where employees within the selected department can be scheduled. These can be created, updated, and deleted at will. To add a Meal Period first select the relevant department using the dropdown at the top left, and then click the New Meal Period button at the top right. To remove any Meal Periods just click the X in the first column for the relevant meal period. If you do not want to schedule by Meal Period just add the "WHOLE DAY" meal period and remove all other Meal Periods.
Par
Pars apply to roles assigned to specific Meal Periods. Roles can be assigned to specific Meal Periods with a minimum quantity for reference purposes to ensure there is no lack of staffing for the day. These pars will be used when building a schedule if "Create Schedule by Par" is selected.
To set your times for the meal period and the staffing pars, hover over a square and click the + symbol that appears. On the popup window configure the start and end time for this period and in the bottom section add all relevant roles and how many employees for that role you want to staff for this shift period.
Once you've added a time slot you have the ability to copy or move this over to other days within the same meal period.
Holidays
Holidays are where any standard holidays (as well as custom holidays of one’s choosing) can be adjusted. To mark your business as closed for the holiday just toggle off the Open toggle in the far right column. You can add additional holidays using the Add Holiday button at the top right.
Notifications
Notifications is where one can set up who is notified (via email) when a new schedule is posted.
Any Employee included on the schedule will automatically be notified of a new schedule being published, but adding users on the Notifications page allows you to send the schedule out to additional individuals (e.g. owner) who are not included in the schedule.
